KEMNAY AFC 0–3 KAIMHILL UNITED
A disappointing afternoon at home saw Kemnay fall to a 3–0 defeat against Kaimhill United, on a day where a poor start, missed opportunities and injuries combined to make it a difficult afternoon for the lads.
Kaimhill made the perfect start and put Kemnay on the back foot almost immediately. M. Fraser opened the scoring after just five minutes, before G. Binns doubled the visitors' advantage only three minutes later. At 2–0 down inside eight minutes, Kemnay had given themselves a mountain to climb.
To their credit, the lads responded to the early setback and began to work their way into the game. There were spells where Kemnay showed the football we know they are capable of playing, and importantly, chances began to come.
Saber and Louie Goldie both had opportunities from close range, but neither could find the finish needed to reduce the deficit. Davis Lupindu also found himself through one-on-one with the Kaimhill goalkeeper, but his effort went wide.
On another afternoon, taking one of those opportunities could have changed the complexion of the game and given Kemnay the foothold they needed.
The first half also brought a far more serious concern for the club. Around ten minutes before the break, goalkeeper Dylan suffered a groin injury following a collision with a Kaimhill striker. He was unable to continue and had to be replaced by Fernando Malasquez.
Unfortunately, Dylan's injury has since proved serious and he will require urgent surgery. Everyone at Kemnay AFC wishes Dylan all the very best with his surgery and recovery, and we hope to see him back with the lads when the time is right. 🧡🖤
Kemnay went into the interval trailing 2–0 but still looking for a way back into the contest.
The second half continued in much the same fashion. There were moments where Kemnay moved the ball well and showed glimpses of what the team can produce, but we couldn't find the quality in the final third to turn those spells into goals.
Changes were made as Kemnay looked to inject some fresh energy into the side, with Jacob Holloway and Ryan McLaren introduced on 61 minutes, followed later by J. Ghabosh replacing Louie Goldie.
Unfortunately, the injury problems weren't finished.
Ryan McLaren suffered an injury shortly after coming onto the pitch and was unable to continue. With Kemnay unable to replace him, we were forced to see out the remainder of the match with ten men.
Kaimhill eventually put the result beyond doubt in the 86th minute, when G. McCallan added their third to complete a 3–0 victory for the visitors.
Overall, there is no getting away from the fact that it was a lacklustre performance and a bad day at the office for Kemnay. Conceding twice inside the opening eight minutes left us chasing the game almost from the start.
We did create opportunities and there were periods where we showed how we can play, but ultimately we were unable to convert our chances when they came.
Kemnay’s Man of the Match was Davis Lupindu, who was selected for the award following the final whistle. 👏
